Myrianna-Red Box Games, WIP 2

Progress on this piece was hindered due to my being out of town for several days.  Upon returning, I promptly came down with a dreadful sinus infection.  On Saturday we had a sudden storm with 60mph sheer winds which took out our power for nearly 24 hours. In the midst of all this craziness the only thing I could think was "I just want to paint my mini!"

So today for you I have only the beginnings of highlights on the figure.

Taking photo's at this stage is quite useful as it helps me to see where things need to be tweaked before I go any farther.  For instance, the shading on her face needs to be deepened, the highlights on her dress are too low and lack depth of colour.  These I will glaze down with the base colour then reclaim the highlights and bring them up several notches.  The highlights on her cape are sloppy and will be glazed down with the base colour and the highlights will then then being reclaimed and tightened up.  Also the grey trim needs quite a bit of work as I have merely sketched in the roughest of highlights. And of course the staff, the gemstone and the dragon need to be completed.

In the following photo you can see where she was at last week and where she is now.

I plan to have her completed and ready for a final test shot before weeks end.  At this time I have not made a decision on how to base her as she is to be part of a ten figure war band.  This being the case whatever base I design is one I will have to repeat nine more times, so I need to make something I can tolerate doing repeatedly.

  1. those hightlights really are lovely, that has always been your very strong talent, dear.
Are the sinuses better? It is awfully hot here, I just saw a lady in flip flops five minutes ago and tons of people are in T shirts.

    1. I agonise over my highlights and am never satisfied. I worked on her last night and she looks better.

Yes, my sinuses are better now. However, we have a brief return to Winter this week. It's to be below freezing tonight and I hope to cover everything I didn't lose in freeze on Saturday night.

    2. there is something very strange going on with Mother Nature around the world this Spring, methinks... maybe she's having fits thinking how Bitch Clinton or Idiot Trump will win the elections? Or how the Cuntmouth (that is how we ''tenderly'' call our primer minister here) will win them here.

    3. Mother Nature certainly seems to be in a foul mood. If the Hildabeast wins in America, I expect the whole place to be leveled by years end. And Trump, well Satan himself will just come up from the depths of Hell and set the whole place to flames.

      Cuntmouth, that's so sweet :0)

    4. Dahlink, you need to dig out a shelter for you and the hubs in the yard before poop hits the fan, you know :)

    6. both inside and out... one look at him works better than any laxative, dahlink. And that fascist is gonna win the elections here again, because we're a nation of freakin' idiots.

    7. This is the problem with Democracy dahlink. When a nation is full of idiots who can vote they will make the most horrific of choices. The decay of society is upon us dear, so let us duck and cover :0)

    8. it is horrible, especially since morals have been lost and everything is governed by money and gain and the basic of instincts one of which is the irrational fear we mentioned at my place, the other bloodthirsty instincts. It is just sad. I do think we live in the worst of times, not counting the WWs.

    9. The worst thing is that it is now global. At one time, there were places you could go where it was still nice, where traditions were respected, where human life was valued. I think much of the spread is due to the infiltration of Western media and ideals.

    10. no, the worst thing is that I'm a part of it :( I have to translate extremely stupid young adult books which literally poison young people's minds from the very early age with that twisted thinking and ignorant self-centred ways. And I cannot do anything about it, I'm not the editor, I need monies to eat :( You should just see some of those books dear... pure fascism from childhood.

    11. I couldn't stand it darling, but you must earn a living. Sadly that is just the kind of trash that is selling. The thinking has always been that if you get them young, you get them for life.

    12. one of the latest and most popular trends in YA books is popularizing the idea of collateral damage and making it justified. It makes me extremely angry. Back in our days we read about heroes who would jump into a frozen lake or an abyss just to save a kitten, and now you have little bastards and bitches who within the story of the novel kill thousands just to save their own skin or fulfil their egocentric goal. It is nasty, especially since we know why they're teaching kids to accept and approve the concept of collateral damage. Their whole history is built upon it.

    1. Greetings my friend!

I like the palette I chose for her as well. As so many people have already painted her, I wanted to do something different.

      Thank you!
