US Airborne Bazooka and 60mm Light Mortar Team

I am working on a small project for Operation Market Garden, which will include figures from the US, Britain and Germany.

These figures are to represent the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment at Nijmegen.  They are from Warlord Games, Bolt Action and are 28mm figures.

This project will likely take me a year to complete as I am continuing to paint figures from multiple genres.  At the moment I have some British Paras on the table and am working on the cammo patterns on the Denison smocks.

  2. gorgeous colours as always, dahlink. You know what your colours always remind me of... of the green hills and golden wheat fields of Eire, dear. I feel nostalgia in your painting.

That one crouching little bastard looks like he is pooping... which is why I wish for all US soldiers :) to poop themselves silly in their pants and have nowhere to wash them :)

    1. Ya, it might always be raining at home, but at least it's green. Oh God, round here there's little beauty to look at, unless I put it there myself.

    2. I can imagine, dear. When I was translating ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES which is set in Indiana with characters visiting its attractions, their idea of national tourist attraction was a tree hanged with old shoes (so basically a smelly trash polluting nature), a crazy old guy's backyard with some small rollercoaster he build from garbage and world's biggest painted ball. Sweet bejesus.

    3. Ya that's about right. One could build an entire amusement park from the trash in my neighbours backyard. I nearly died from culture shock when I first arrived. Your soul would shrivel at the sight of these people :)

    4. That is why your wall is serving its purpose well :) Did you manage to do everything you wanted inside the house too? Before the winter? Is heating OK this year?

    5. I'ts all done now and I don't plan on doing anything new this year. The heating is great this year. That tiny little infrared heater works great and costs so little to run. You just plug it into the wall and it heats up 3 gigantic rooms. It's all me and The Hubby need.

    6. see! Told ya so! Remember when I was telling you you need a heater if it is just the two of you. Glad the heating problem is solved!

  4. Lovely work. I really like the lighter green colour you have chosen for the M1943 uniform. These Warlord US Airborne are great figures to paint.

    1. I really do like them and the British are nice as well. I have the German HQ though and the heads are disproportionately small when compared to the bodies.

  7. Fantastic brushwork as always, Anne. Pardon my ignorance, but I just discovered this blog - I did some "reverse engineering" after seeing your latest entry in the Challenge. I found an old post of yours on my blog and see your old blog is gone and went to this one from there :) As you may suspect I am clueless as to the changes in Blogger. Best, Dean

    1. I haven't made any announcements about this blog, so very few people are even aware it exists. I'll let people on the Challenge know about it in a post near the end. I am putting my wargaming buddies up on this blogroll a bit at a time though. So I'll be round to visit after the Challenge is over.
